Aesop Rock. It became trendy for a couple of years there to focus on Aesop Rock, or perhaps it was just the one Lupe Fiasco video about appreciating him, but this guy deserves all the recognition he can. What a career, full of at first very abstract, almost zoomed-back rap like diagrams and postmodern poetry, but then moving on to something more like an anthems man of underground impressionism and absurdity, and then even to something more personal, basically ever since The Impossible Kid.
